RECENTLY, a video of a traffic accident went viral on social media; it is claimed in the clip -which shows a motorcyclist lying injured on a road - that what is seen is the aftermath of a hit-and-run in Johor.

Is this true?

VERDICT:

FALSE

In a statement on the police's official Facebook page, Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said that what is shown in the video is not the result of a hit-and-run as claimed.

He said that the video shows an accident that happened between a car and motorcycle at KM 26.4 of Lebuhraya Pasir Gudang on Tuesday (April 2) and added that the accident happened when the driver of the car changed lanes.

"An investigation showed that the incident was not a hit-and-run as claimed but the result of the driver changing lanes to the right, and the motorcycle rider was unable to avoid (the car), said Supt Mohd Sohaimi.

He added that both parties have made a police report and said that an investigation of the accident is underway.
