QuickCheck: Was a man killed at a Kedah coffee shop?


WHEN it comes to acts of violence, any news tends to go viral as it is generally such a shock to most people.

Recently, a claim was made online that a man was killed by several assailants at a coffee shop near Kulim, Kedah. Is this true?

VERDICT:

TRUE

Kulim deputy police chief Deputy Supt Safuan Md Nor confirmed this, saying that a 27-year-old man was attacked by two people armed with machetes and sickles at a coffee shop in Padang Serai near Kulim.

"While being chased by the two suspects, the victim tried to escape by entering a coffee shop but was hacked until he collapsed and died inside the premises," he said.

"The victim suffered severe injuries to his hands, chest, back and face. His body was sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for a post-mortem," added DSP Safuan.

He said the police are conducting investigations, and efforts to track down the two suspects are ongoing.

The motive of the incident is still under probe, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, he added.
