QuickCheck: Are two new Meta platform accounts spreading cash aid information legitimate?

RECENTLY, two new Instagram accounts have appeared and both of these accounts claim to have been set up by the government to share news about new government aid with the public.

Is it true that these two accounts - @info.bantuan.kerajaan and @bantuankerajaann2024 – have been set up by the government to inform the public of new aid packages?

VERDICT:

FALSE

In a statement issued on their Facebook account, the Finance Ministry said that the accounts and the information on them are fake.

“Be careful and do not be fooled by such news on social media. Head to the official portals and follow the official social media channels of the Finance Ministry for the latest valid information,” it said in the Facebook post.

“If you are unsure, do not share it,” added the Ministry.
