With the rise of the cost of living, everyone is trying to make their money work for them by looking for investment opportunities.

However the world of investing can be a daunting one for the uninitiated, especially with many dubious investment schemes cropping up on social media in the past few years.

erhaps the face of a well-known public figure like Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, popularly known as Mat Sabu.

Speaking of, a poster for a syariah-compliant investment scheme is being circulated online bearing an image of the minister implying the scheme is being promoted or endorsed by him. Is this true?

VERDICT:

FALSE

According to a May 27 statement from the ministry, Mohamad has not granted permission to any parties to use his photo in investment promotion materials.

The statement said such misuse must be stopped immediately.

It added that a report has been lodged with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
