QuickCheck: Did a chicken feed heist take place in Pontian?


THERE are a variety of different heists that have occurred in the news. Many would involve cars, banks, petrol stations, luxury houses and museums.

Some would even involve pet abductions like dogs, cats, horses, and other exotic animals. But has there been a heist in Malaysia solely on chicken feed?

Verdict:

Last Friday (March 31), the Permas police station in Pontian, Johor received a report from a man who said 113 of his gunny sacks filled with chicken feed were robbed by three unidentified men using a registered lorry.

On Saturday (April 1), Pontian police arrested two people for allegedly carrying out the heist.

The police investigation found the two men had been hired by the victim's employee to steal his employer's supply of chicken feed and sell them for RM30 per sack.

Pontian OCPD Supt Mohammad Shofee Tayib said two more suspects have since been arrested and all four suspects were remanded to assist in investigations under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
