QuickCheck: Did a balcony break-in almost occur in a local highrise dwelling?

We often read about homes being broken into.

What is not normal is to hear of a break-in being attempted via the balcony of a condominium unit on the 12th floor of a local highrise.

Did this break-in attempt really take place?

VERDICT:

TRUE

According to mStar, Twitter user @PhoebeShafinaz and her husband were startled last Thursday (March 30) when two men tried to break into the home through the balcony.

"It was 12.43am. I was on my phone when my husband suddenly screamed and (we saw) two men on our balcony trying to break in.

"We both were screaming at this point and my husband quickly ran to our sliding door and made sure it was locked," she tweeted on March 30.

She said fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident and the two men fled after failing to break in.

"We immediately called the police and sent an SOS message to the condo WhatsApp group warning them about the men," she said.

As traumatising as the situation was, PhoebeShafinaz said she was thankful that her husband was with her as he quickly locked the door to prevent the men from entering.

"Yes we're a bit traumatised but we learnt to always be mindful of our safety.

"Such a simple gesture (as locking a door) could mean life or death," she said.
