QuickCheck: Is a fake contest trying to scam fans of a popular chocolate malt drink?

A CONTEST allegedly organised by Milo for Ramadan that offers cash prizes to people who fill in a questionnaire has been circulating on social media. Seeing that Milo is one of the country's most popular hot beverages, there has been a lot of chatter about it.

However, is it true that Nestle, the maker of Milo, has denounced the contest as being fake?

Verdict:

TRUE

In a statement on both its website and on its social media accounts, Nestle Malaysia has hands-down denounced the competition as fake.

The food and drink maker said that the fishy questionnaire was a scam that aimed to mislead the public and that the company had already reported it to the relevant authorities.

It urged the public to ignore the post or message in question if they had received it and not divulge any personal details in the questionnaire as well as to not make any payments.

Nestle also said not to share the post and to only refer to Milo's official website for information regarding any competitions or contests.
