THERE has been a recent string of WhatsApp messages going around informing its recipients that they have just won a large sum of money under the "Sinaran Merdeka 2023 Promotion" which was allegedly organised by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).
Seeing that most competitions do not usually give all their participants a prize, is it true that this is just a scam?

TNB has told its customers not to engage with emails alleging that they have won the "Sinaran Merdeka 2023" promotion as it is a scam.
In a statement on its official website, the utility provider said that it does not organise cash giveaways online and that its customers should refer to its social media pages for information on promotions or contests.
It advised its customers to be on the web and not to share their personal information online as it could be misused by irresponsible parties.
