QuickCheck: Did a viral video of road bullies happen in Negri Sembilan as claimed?

TRAFFIC seems to bring out the worst in people, as we just want to get from Point A to Point B as fast as we can with no interruptions in our way. Unfortunately, this is what everyone wants to do – and we might run into someone who's had a bad day or lives with a short fuse.

Recently, a 16-second video of a fight between two motorists went viral on social media, and it is claimed that the incident took place near Port Dickson in Negri Sembilan. Did the incident happen as claimed?

Verdict:

TRUE

In a statement, Seremban police chief Asst Comm Nanda Ma'arof said that the investigation found that the incident occurred at 2pm on Dec 30 along the Seremban-Port Dickson Highway.

He said that the investigation showed that the fight took place between two men, adding that one was aged 32 and the other 52.

"A 32-year-old man driving a four-wheel drive had stopped along the fast lane of the highway, blocking the 52-year-old driver of a luxury car heading in the same direction, towards Port Dickson," said ACP Nanda.

He added that the two had got into an argument when they had stopped at the Mambau rest and service area, saying that they had stopped there as some items had fallen off the pickup truck and almost hit the other car on the highway.

ACP Nanda said the two motorists then drove off but the driver of the pickup then overtook the other car and blocked it near the Sua Betong traffic light junction.

He said the man apparently did so because he wanted to take a photograph of the other driver.

"The other man had also taken his photograph when they were arguing at the R&R. Both drivers will be called in to have their statement recorded," he added.
