QuickCheck: Will you have an 'ID chip' injected in you when you get vaccinated?

A FACEBOOK user has reignited controversy over her claim that those receiving the Covid-19 vaccine will be secretly injected with an "ID Chip". Is this true?

Verdict:

FALSE

This is a myth that refuses to die and anti-vaxxers have been parroting this false claim ever since the first Covid-19 vaccine was launched ad nauseam.

Recently, this "controversy" was re-sparked after a post by a Facebook user went viral with the claim that they could detect unknown Bluetooth signals emanating from those who were vaccinated.

In response to this, the Health Ministry released a statement on their official Facebook page that they took such claims seriously.

They then went on to state that vaccines used in Malaysia were verified as safe by the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) and that they did not contain microchips.

It added that the list of ingredients of vaccines were clearly stated on the side of its packaging or could be looked up on the NPRA's website - www.npra.gov.my.

It then advised the public not to publish or forward fake news as it would create anxiety among the community.
