QuickCheck: Did a Kajang school spat lead to teens being arrested for rioting?

A VIRAL video reportedly showing a group of teenagers in school uniform beating up two other students has gone viral on social media.

It is said that the police were called and four teens were arrested. Is this true?

According to Kajang district police chief Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan, police were alerted to a fight that broke out at a school canteen in Kajang after a video went viral on social media.

He also said police received a report from a 16-year-old student on Friday (Dec 2), stating that a group of students had beaten him and a friend.

"The incident stemmed from a misunderstanding in the school (on Nov 30), where the complainant had a misunderstanding with the suspects’ friend at the canteen during break time," he said.

ACP Mohd Zaid added that four students, aged 15 to 16, were arrested at 8.50pm on Saturday (Dec 3) for alleged rioting.

"An examination found minor injuries on the face and body of the complainant and victim. All those arrested were minors attending the same school as the complainant.

"We will apply for the remand of all the suspects at the Bandar Baru Bangi Court (Saturday, Dec 3). We are still tracking down some students," he said.
