QuickCheck: Are morning workouts more effective?

SOME people say the best time to work out is early in the morning.

Is this claim true?

VERDICT:

MIXED

There is no fixed time to benefit the most from your exercise. Some people wake up before the break of dawn easily, while others are night owls who are more active at night.

Many fitness gurus advocate morning workouts, saying it has greater benefits such as revving up metabolism and speeding up weight loss.

However, there is no conclusive evidence to show that one is better than the other.

Perhaps the best thing to do is to ensure that you achieve 150 minutes of moderate-intensity workout a week, as recommended by the American Heart Association, as written by fitness trainer Revathi Murugappan.

She also recommended aiming for 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity in a week to keep your heart healthy.

Perhaps the best thing to do is to ensure that you exercise when it is possible, according to your own schedule.

So, the next time you want to exercise, just get off your sofa, put on your running shoes, and just do it!

Also, remember to hydrate and get enough rest!
