Semporna OCPD Supt Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said they initially received a complaint involving a man in his 30s behaving aggressively and hurling stones at cars plying the Jalan Sungai Sipit Semporna-Kunak route at 4.50pm on May 25.
He said his men rushed to the scene and found the man lying on the road with head injuries and sent him to the district hospital for treatment.
"It turns out he is the same person shown in a viral video clinging precariously to a moving lorry on Jalan Semporna-Kunak," he said in a statement on May 26.
Police then arrested the man, believed to be mentally disturbed.
