IRB denies tabling paper on tax contribution based on race, advises public not to spread false, unverified information

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) denies tabling in Parliament a white paper on tax contributions based on the racial and ethnic composition of Malaysian taxpayers, an allegation that has gone viral on social media.

In a statement Tuesday (Aug 27), IRB said the agency’s standard operating procedure (SOP) did not allow taxpayer information and contribution to be recorded based on race and ethnicity.
