SEPANG: PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali has dismissed talk of his sacking as fake news.
“No, it is not true,” he told reporters in response to queries on the matter Tuesday (Feb 12).
Social media has been full of chatter that PKR had sacked Azmin, who is also Economic Affairs Minister.
However, none of the claims cited a source to back the speculation.
PKR information chief Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin had also said that no discussion on the matter had taken place.
Azmin said these talks were the work of irresponsible groups.
“We must not believe in rumours. New technology allows irresponsible people to spread fake news.
“This is dangerous,” he said.
The infighting between Azmin and party vice-president Rafizi Ramli is believed to be among reasons why the speculation spread in the social media.
In the last party election, Azmin managed to retain his No 2 post in PKR, defeating Rafizi by a narrow margin.
