Tokyo reports 201 new cases of Covid-19, total number tops 2,700

TOKYO (Xinhua): Tokyo confirmed 201 new cases of Covid-19 as of Friday afternoon, local media reported, pushing the total number of Covid-19 cases to 2,796 in the Japanese capital.

It is the first time the daily increase of Tokyo has exceeded 200, a day after Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe declared a state of emergency for the entire country extending the order far beyond the original seven prefectures as Japan grapples to curb the spread of Covid-19.
