Japan's Covid-19 cases rise to 8,393, Tokyo records 127 new infections

TOKYO (Xinhua): The Covid-19 cases in Japan increased by 220 nationwide, including 127 infections in Tokyo, the health ministry and local authorities said as of 4:30 p.m. local time Wednesday (April 15), bringing the nationwide total to 8,393.

The death toll from the pneumonia-causing virus now stands at a total of 179, including those from a cruise ship that was quarantined in Yokohama near Tokyo, the latest figures showed.
