Survey: Ahok most successful at tackling Jakarta’s issues

A survey from Indo Barometer showed the majority of respondents saw former Jakarta governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama as the most successful recent leader in handling Jakarta’s problems, including floods and traffic jams.

The survey was carried out on a face-to-face questionnaire basis with a sample of 1,200 respondents with a right to vote, spread across the nation between Jan 9 and 15.

“First, in (handling) floods, Ahok has earned the most credit with 40% (of respondents), followed by Jokowi (the current president Joko Widodo) with 25% and Pak (current Jakarta governor) Anies (Baswedan) with 4%, ” Indo Barometer executive director, M Qodari said during a press conference in Jakarta on Sunday, as quoted by kompas.com.

Meanwhile with traffic jams, the respondents perceived Ahok as the most successful leader at addressing the issue (35.3%), followed by Jokowi (25.3%) and Anies (8.3%).

Looking at education, Jokowi took over the tally (35.1%) with Anies in second place (25.3%), while Ahok was third (15.3%).

When addressing health issues, Jokowi was perceived as the most successful, followed by Anies and then Ahok. — The Jakarta Post/ANN
