Indonesia closes down 23 illegal gold mining holes in Bogor

BOGOR, West Java (The Jakarta Post): A joint operation involving 700 security personnel was held over the weekend to close down 23 holes from illegal gold mining activities within the area of Mount Pongkor in the Bogor regency.

The 700 personnel comprised police officers from the West Java Police, Bogor Police, the Indonesian Military (TNI), local forest police and security personnel of diversified mining company PT Aneka Tambang (Antam), Bogor Police spokesperson Adj Comr Ita Puspita Lena said.
