BEIJING: President Xi Jinping vowed to build China by the end of this year into a moderately prosperous society that is universally acclaimed by the people and stands the test of history.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remark in his address to a gathering in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing in celebration of the Spring Festival, or Lunar New Year, which falls today.
