Myanmar groups want Chinese president to cancel Myitsone dam project

MYITKYINA, Myanmar (Eleven Media Group/ANN): Kachin-based civil society organisations (CSOs)will send an open letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping, asking for the total cancellation of the controversial Myitsone dam project as it may threaten peace across the country, including Kachin State and hamper Paukphaw (fraternal friendhip) between Myanmar and China.

The CSOs plan to send this open letter to the Chinese president who will visit Myanmar on Jan 17.
