YANGON, Jan 13, Eleven Media Group/ANN -- The People’s Pioneer Party (PPP) will run for all parliamentary seats in the 2020 General Election, according to the PPP’s press conference at Sedona Hotel in Yangon on January 11.
Lower House MP Dr. Thet Thet Khaing, leader of the PPP after resigning from the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD), said: “I will run for a seat in the upcoming election. Voters understand me as currently I represents Dagon Township constituency as an MP.”
She will pay attention to the desires of political partners, parties and candidates rather than her desire alone.
The party’s leaders mainly explained the party’s political and economic stance at the press conference. The PPP has formed the central committee chaired by Dr. Thet Thet Khaing.
The PPP will run for all parliamentary seats in the regions in the 2020 General Election and the upper house and lower house parliamentary seats in the states.
Around 200-280 candidates from the party will compete in 50-70 constituencies in the coming election.
Dr. Thet Thet Khaing won a seat for Dagon Township Constituency in 2015 General Election, representing the ruling NLD. She also served as a member of the Lower House Banks and Monetary Development Committee.
The NLD gave the warnings to Dr. Thet Thet Khaing due to the interviews with media and undertakings in the parliament. In September, 2018, she was suspended from duties by the NLD, claiming that she violated the party’s rules.
The PPP, formed by local entrepreneurs, got the political party registration from the Union Election Commission on October 23,2019.
