Thousands flee as Typhoon Kammuri churns towards Philippines

Manila (Dec 2, Agencies): Tens of thousands of people sheltered in evacuation centres as powerful Typhoon Kammuri barreled towards the Philippines on Monday (Dec 2), disrupting plans for the South-East Asian (SEA) Games events near the capital Manila.

Kammuri is forecast to make landfall late Monday or early Tuesday in the nation's east with intense rains and potent wind gusts of up to 185kph, forecasters said.
