MANILA (Dec 1): The Philippines is expected to post gains in new businesses, tourism receipts and prestige from hosting this year's edition of the South-east Asian Games, despite teething problems that have cast a harsh light on the country's ability to put together big international events.
"There is the multiplier effect... that the market may be underestimating," said Jomar Lacson, head of research at ATR Asset Management. He expects the SEA Games to give a slight bump to growth in the fourth quarter.
