Three Chinese tourists missing off Sangiang

Jakarta: Banten Search and Rescue Office (KPP) personnel are searching for three foreigners who went missing when diving in waters off Sangiang Island in the Sunda Strait, Serang regency in Banten, on Java island.

The three have been identified as Chinese nationals Tan Xuz Tao, Wan Bang Yang and Tian Yu.

The three were part of a diving group comprising seven people, said KPP Banten public relations officer Galih.

“The missing persons were on holiday and went diving in a group around Sangiang Island.

“(The group) consisted of six people who went diving and one person who went snorkelling, ” he said in a statement yesterday.

A friend of the missing persons, You Shie Jie, reported the case to KPP Banten.

A National Search and Rescue Agency diving team has been deployed to search for the missing foreigners. — The Jakarta Post/ANN
