Chinese woman surrenders to Shanghai police after choking volunteer over waste sorting

A woman surrendered to police in Shanghai and admitted choking an elderly neighbour into a faint in an argument over household waste on Thursday.

At the start of July, the city mobilised tens of thousands of volunteers, most of whom are pensioners, to help with its new rubbish and recycling system. The volunteers advised neighbours on how to bin their waste in the right way.
