Manila: Four suspected extremist militants were killed in an offensive by government troops in the southern Philippines, the military said.
Soldiers were conducting an operation yesterday to track down an Abu Sayyaf leader in Basilan province, 900km south of Manila, when they encountered the militants, said Lieutenant-General Arnel Dela Vega, a regional military chief.
