The headquarters of the organisation that seeks to share Akita dog culture with the rest of the world has expressed delight – but not surprise – at the actions of one of the breed credited with saving the life of an elderly woman in northern Japan.
Mame, a 12-year-old from the town of Senboku, in Akita Prefecture, alerted her owner to the old lady, who was slumped by the side of the road in the early hours of March 23, local police said.
