TOKYO: The strongest typhoon to hit Japan in 25 years made landfall, the country’s weather agency said, prompting evacuation advisories for more than one million people and cancelled hundreds of flights in the face of extremely strong winds and heavy rain as typhoon Jebi made landfall along Japan’s west central coast.
Typhoon Jebi, packing winds of up to 216kph, made landfall around midday in western Japan near areas still recovering from deadly record rains earlier this summer.
