American tourist found hanged at Chiang Mai hostel

CHIANG MAI: An American tourist was found hanged in a room at a Chiang Mai hostel on Thursday night in what police believe to be a suicide.

The tourist was identified as Samuel Frederic, 38, from Oklahoma. Pol Lt Col Anek Chaiwong, deputy commander of the Phuping police station, said the tourist was found hanging from a strip torn from his travelling bag and tied to a bar of the bedstead.
