Gambler who lost over RM16mil tells of fall from 'heavenly king' to 'a nobody'

Jerome (not his real name) lost millions in 20 or so years. He likens jackpot machines to drugs, and only just banned himself from casinos this week.

SINGAPORE: He was once ranked among the "Heavenly Kings" in his industry, earning over S$50,000 (RM157,807 at current rates) per month as a tour guide in the 1990s

But now, he is known as a "beggar" among his friends, after losing most of his fortune due to a gambling addiction spanning over 20 years, including at jackpot machines.
