ZAMBOANGA CITY: At least five terrorists were killed as the Philippine army launched an assault on the Abu Sayyaf group believed to have beheaded a German captive, China's Xinhua news agency reported a military official as saying on Thursday.

The official said 11 Philippine army troopers were also injured during the operation late Wednesday in the jungle near Indanan Town, Sulu Province, in southern Philippines.
