TAIPEI: One of Taiwan’s top badminton players, Tai Tzu-ying (pic), Wednesday defended her decision to wear shoes provided by a non-official sponsor during her just-concluded trip to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro after Taiwan’s badminton association reportedly threatened to punish her over the decision.
Tai, 22, ended her trip in Rio at a singles quarterfinal on August 16 after losing to ninth-seeded P.V. Sindhu of India.
