HONG KONG’S pro-democracy movement and youths face challenging times in the New Year after pulling off one of the largest civil disobedience in decades, where tens of thousands occupied major financial and shopping districts for a record 75 days last year to demand the right to choose their own leader.
The signs at the start of the year have been ominous, to say the least, for pro-democracy advocates fighting to safeguard Hong Kong’s autonomy.
