THE Singapore economy grew 8.1% in the second quarter of this year, prompting the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) to revise its forecast for 2006 upwards yesterday.
The ministry said in a statement that the economy grew at a more moderated pace in the second quarter, compared to the 10.8% registered in the first quarter of the year. However, it was still higher than the preliminary estimates of 7.5%.
