WASHINGTON: Relations between the United States and Asean strained last year after a perceived snub are expected to get back to a normal footing with the first of what will become an annual summit in November.
The meeting will bring together US President George W. Bush and the leaders of the seven Asean members who are also part of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) grouping Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.
