INDIVIDUAL users are not allowed to buy products valued at more than 1,000 yuan (RM470) through electronic payment in a single deal to hedge against the risk of online fraud, the People's Bank of China said on its website.
The central bank guideline would not greatly affect the Chinese e-commerce industry as users still have multiple choices to finish their online transactions, said banks and online firms including eBay China and Alibaba.com.
