Shadowing nets big drug haul

NARCOTICS officers netted the year’s largest haul of the drug ketamine, after following a young Malaysian drug dealer around Singapore.

After every stop the 24-year-old made, they moved in on the person he spoke to.

Each time, they found drugs. All in, they seized 1,210g of ketamine – the third largest amount since October 2001 – and 231 Ecstasy tablets. These have a street value of more than S$79,000 (RM178,188).

The shadowing began on Tuesday, when they spotted the syndicate leader, codenamed Jimmy, enter the country at the Woodlands checkpoint with his girlfriend. –The Straits Times/ Asia News Network
