THE European Union’s trade chief suggested on Saturday the yuan be linked to a basket of foreign currencies, including the euro, in order to ward off increasing pressures from the United States to float the currency.
Peter Mandelson said in Shanghai that the European Union believed the timing of any currency reform should be left to the Chinese Government.
