SINGAPORE: A Singapore police inspector has been jailed for 20 months for accepting money from a former member of an organised crime syndicate in a rare corruption case in the city-state, local media reported yesterday.
V.N. Arasakumar, 44, pleaded guilty to receiving S$4,800 (RM10,560) from an ex-member of the local triad, The Straits Times said. Fifteen other charges were also taken into consideration when Arasakumar – a station inspector with the Secret Societies Branch – was sentenced on Wednesday, the paper added.
