SHANGHAI: The Chinese government has for the first time responded positively to the proposal of a peace agreement with Taiwan, an island that China considers part of its territory.
Taiwan’s opposition Kuomintang (KMT) party chairman Lien Chan said yesterday that China’s president Hu Jintao had responded positively when he raised the issue of a peace agreement to Hu at their meeting in Beijing.
