A GROWING number of cars and cellphones from Singapore, many suspected to have been stolen, are being smuggled into Batam, making them the hottest two items on the watch list of the island’s Customs Department.
The Batam authorities seized 114 vehicles last year, even more than the two previous years' total haul of 95.
