JAKARTA: Indonesia and the Philippines were on alert yesterday for Islamic militant attacks aimed to disrupt Christian celebrations of Easter while foreigners were warned over their safety.
Police in both countries said they were hunting for radicals connected to Jemaah Islamiah and the Abu Sayyaf, two leading South-East Asian extremist outfits believed to have ties to al-Qaeda, after a foiled bomb plot.
