Cambodian monk ‘converts’ snake by chanting scriptures


PHNOM PENH: A Cambodian monk claimed on Wednesday that he has charmed a wild snake by reciting it Buddhist scriptures and in so doing had brought the local faithful flocking to his temple with renewed faith to witness this miracle. 

Ki Ly, 40, of the Kleang Meang pagoda in southern Takeo province said he first found his young snake when it was just a baby in the jungle, and over time had converted it to become a devoted Buddhist.
