PHNOM PENH: Former Khmer Rouge commander Chhouk Rin has taken refuge in his mountain village to evade arrest after his conviction for the murder of three young Western tourists a decade ago, his wife said yesterday.
Cambodia's Supreme Court last Wednesday upheld a conviction and life sentence previously handed down to Chhouk Rin, 50, by lower courts for the killing of Australian David Wilson, Frenchman Jean-Michel Braquet and Briton Mark Slater.
