SEOUL: South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co, one of the world's top electronics companies, said yesterday it has developed the world's first mobile phone with the capability to convert spoken words into text messages.

This “revolutionary” speech-to-text VoiceMode capability, available on two new Samsung phones, will allow users to speak into the phone and have the phone convert those words directly into text, it said.

“This new technology will significantly change how people interact with their wireless phones,” said Peter Skarzynski, senior vice-president of Samsung Electronics. – AFP
