HONG KONG: Hong Kong's highest court rejected on Friday a government bid to cut short the normal 28 days allowed for an appeal to it in the case of a public housing tenant challenging the sale of public property assets, a move which could stall the listing of the investment vehicle.
Chief Justice Andrew Li at the Court of Final Appeal said it has no power to shorten the period within which 67-year-old Lo Siu-lang can appeal the High Court's rejection of her case against the Housing Authority's plan to sell off some US$3bil (RM11.4bil) of shopping malls and parking places.
