BEIJING: Sixteen people, including five children, have been confirmed dead while about 30 others are missing and presumed dead after a landslide hit a remote mountain village in south-west China yesterday, state media and local officials said.
The disaster, the latest to hit a country reeling from a series of recent tragic accidents, struck at 3am in Zuojiaying village, about 200km west of the provincial capital Guiyang city, the Xinhua news agency said.
