A SENIOR police officer has promised to make it easier and faster for Guangdong residents to apply for passports and travel documents.
The move is aimed at meeting the growing demand from the provinces growing number of residents who are eager to go abroad for business and sightseeing and to visit relatives.
Now, we have to speed up our examination and approval procedures to meet the growing demand, said Luo Juan, deputy director-general of the Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Public Security.
Luo predicted the demand would peak soon. With the implementation of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement, more individuals and businessmen would be visiting the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions for trade. Likewise, more people would travel to other countries for business.
We also expect more people to go overseas to visit relatives, said Luo. China Daily
