HANOI: A former deputy sports minister accused of raping a 13-year-old girl went on trial here yesterday, marking the first time a high-ranking Vietnamese official has ever been prosecuted for a sex crime.
Luong Quoc Dung, 52, appeared in Hanoi People's Court, on charges of child rape eight months after being arrested on suspicion of assaulting the girl in a hotel room.
